Flora Springs Winery: a dream come true
A single mosaic is enough to transform the look of an entire wine cellar. That is exactly what happened at Flora Springs: the SICIS-designed project that turns a specific request into a complete, bespoke space that is impossible to overlook.
In Napa Valley, along Highway 29, the Flora Springs building can be recognised from afar by its undulating silhouette, which sets it apart from every other winery in the valley.
The story of the project begins elsewhere, amongst the display windows of the SICIS showroom in Paris, where Jean-Charles Boisset walked in, drawn by the mosaics, shortly after purchasing the winery with the intention of renovating it. His initial request to SICIS was modest: a mosaic for each of the tasting rooms. It often happens that those who enter looking for a few tiles end up leaving with an entire winery.
From that first step, the project grew room by room, following ideas that evolved with every meeting, whilst the SICIS team transformed each new vision into an invitation to every guest: to step inside and let themselves be guided on the journey of Flora, the Roman goddess of spring, through awakening, blossoming and the grape harvest, extending the project beyond the mosaics to the furnishings and outdoor spaces, in a single, cohesive narrative.

The art of mosaic becomes landscape
Here, the mosaic dominates the space. Over 1,100 square metres of mosaic cover Flora Springs, inside and out, with every tile laid by hand.
The external façade, covering 630 square metres with 15x15-millimetre tiles, is clad in a gradient of greens built up from six distinct colour blends, designed to follow the variations in the valley’s natural light and to interact with the vineyards, mountains and sky in a single, iridescent composition.
The structure’s curved and irregular profile puts every calculation to the test, transforming the material specification into an exercise in almost obsessive precision – from the design to the actual measurements – until every figure matches.

Upon crossing the threshold, the Pixel Mosaic technique – featuring 10x10-millimetre tiles – takes centre stage, enhanced by artistic mosaic details in areas requiring greater depth: a combination that harmonises the vision’s ambition with the project’s proportions.
In the three tasting rooms, the walls and ceilings are transformed into three distinct seasonal narratives.
The first, dedicated to the couple’s twin daughters, depicts a night sky ablaze with constellations, both real and imaginary. The second blossoms in a pixelated garden inspired by the winery’s floral wines. The third adorns a vine-covered pergola that marks the grape harvest season.
Colour palettes drawn from the Iridium, Murano and Colibrì collections craft each scene with the same chromatic care as a wine blend.

At the heart of the experience, a sculptural mosaic counter meets a site-specific work in artistic mosaic — the most exquisite technique, one that comes close to painting, tessera by tessera — capable of reinterpreting Botticelli’s "The Birth of Venus" across a surface area of approximately 18 square metres: a wall-mounted work of art, even before it is a surface.
Stepping out into the outer courtyard, a mosaic featuring butterflies and flowers – reminiscent of Park Güell – opens up the view towards the garden and the panoramic terrace.
Vetrite complements the mosaic in its finest details: surfaces, inlays and finishes that bring light and a contemporary feel to every space.
On the upper floor, a panoramic terrace offers sweeping views of vineyards and mountains, lending the winery a fifth dimension: that of time standing still during an aperitif at sunset.

Mosaics and bespoke furnishings, coordinated from design through to installation
Flora Springs’ strength lies in the harmony between every element of the space, developed bespoke room by room. The fabric for the Amaretto seating is created specifically for each tasting room, designed to complement the surrounding mosaic and made from fire-retardant fibre, in accordance with the certifications required by the US hospitality sector — a fabric exclusive to that room alone. The stools on the upper floor are made to measure, not available from the catalogue, as are the outdoor tables, which are variations on the Amaretto models designed with different dimensions and bases; the lamps comply with the UL certifications required by the US market. The Philippe tables, with tops in Vetrite, complete a design scheme that guides guests from the panoramic terrace to the interior caves.
