Snakes have always fascinated mankind. In Indian culture, when they are represented coiled and sleeping, they become the symbol of Kundalini. In the pre-Columbian civilizations there was a Plumed Serpent, a deity of knowledge. The ancient Romans depicted Mercury, the god of eloquence and trade, holding the caduceus: two serpents coiled around a stick.
